Loire ValleyCrossed by the Loire, Centre is lit up by the light of the river – the source of inspiration for the great artists who were summoned throughout history to work on some of the gems of French architecture.

Three regional nature parks – Brenne, Le Perche and Loire-Anjou-Touraine – in just one region: Centre is a land of vast open spaces. The great men of history, starting with the kings of France (from Charles VII to François I) knew what they were doing when they set up their homes near its vast forests and majestic river. The region has some of the most famous châteaux in France: Amboise, Chambord, Blois, Azay-le-Rideau and Chenonceau; its boundaries also contain the cathedrals of Bourges and Chartres, both on the Unesco World Heritage list. With its nature and heritage, cities packed with character and special events (there are over 30 annual festivals in Centre, including the famous 'Printemps de Bourges' rock festival), leisure activities and fine cuisine (with a particular talent for wine – 22 AOC wines from Chinon to Sancerre) – Centre has an enviable balance of gifts.
