Aquitaine

AquitaineAn immense line of golden sandy beaches, bastides and châteaux, an abundance of vineyards, mountains and countryside – that’s Aquitaine.

A few oysters washed down with a dry white wine in the Arcachon bay, pipérade and Irouléguy rosé, the wild Basque countryside as a backdrop, scrambled eggs with truffles in Périgord, confit de canard in a bastide in Lot-et-Garonne or an Armagnac savoured in Chalosse… There’s no doubt about it, Aquitaine enjoys the good life. Its inhabitants are almost spoilt… but they know how to make the most of nature’s gifts. The Atlantic breakers are a paradise for surfers, drawing professional competitors from all over the world to Lacanau, Hossegor and Biarritz; hikers have a huge choice of locations, from the gentle Landes inclines and the passes in the Pyrenees; while fans of rafting and canyoning enjoy the thrills of launching into the mountain streams. You can do anything in Aquitaine – as long as you live life to the full!
